Your Account
BOTH/AND creates individual accounts based on each person’s responsibilities. Do not share one account among several people. Individual accounts make it easier to protect the parish and understand who changed something.
Your role may allow you to manage:
- The entire site.
- General content.
- Articles.
- Sermons.
- Events.
- Photos.
- Pages.
- One or more specific pages.
If you cannot see a menu or edit a page, that may be intentional. Ask before requesting broader access.
First Sign-In
- Open the WordPress login link supplied by BOTH/AND.
- Enter your username or email address.
- Use the password-reset process when instructed.
- Create a unique, strong password that you do not use elsewhere.
- Store it in a trusted password manager.
- Confirm that you can see only the parts of the site needed for your work.
Never send a password through a group email, parish bulletin, shared document, or website form.
Official WordPress Video
Getting Started with the WordPress Dashboard provides a visual tour of standard WordPress. Your parish account may show fewer menus than the video. That is normal; use only the areas assigned to your role.
Account Safety
- Do not share your login.
- Do not save the password on a public or shared parish computer unless it is protected by an approved password manager.
- Sign out when using a computer other people can access.
- Treat unexpected password-reset messages carefully.
- Do not install plugins, themes, or code because a tutorial tells you to do so.
- Do not create administrators simply because someone may need access later.
- Notify BOTH/AND when someone leaves a staff or volunteer role.
When Someone New Needs Access
Use the Website Support form and include the person’s name, email address, and responsibilities. Describe what the person needs to update. BOTH/AND can then assign the least-privileged role that permits that work.
If You Are Locked Out
Use the password-reset link first. If the reset message does not arrive, use the Website Support form. Do not create a second account or ask another user to share a password.
